my 100 hp coupe never had any trouble keeping up with stop and go
traffic - actually it is about double overpowered for that sort of
thing...

and there's your answer. It's called "keeping up with the Joneses," or
keeping ahead of them, as the case may be.
Trouble is, if you're always lookin' over your shoulder, it's a lot
harder to see where you're goin'...
