Power Hungry Americans

Speaking of getting zapped (not done to me by a Maxima yet!), I got
zapped by a Contour SVT yesterday. I did get a bit surprised off the line
(didn't know the guy was intending to nab me from the right at the light.
+ come-on, it's a Contour....) so he made a length on me (his back bumper
was at my front) but then, but the end of second and into third he wasn't
really pulling away anymore. He then chose to blow through the next
light, I stopped. In reality, no too bad for a car 10yrs the senior and
some 33 HP down on the SVT.

Now, considering that I had JUST (not more than 10 minutes earlier)
gotten out of a speeding ticket (wasn't doing anything special, just
going a little fast) it was pretty stupid to run with the Contour. But I
had to defend Audi's honor (besides, it was fun!).

In reality, after yesterday's overall trials and tribulations on the road
(there were cops EVERYWHERE in about 120 miles overall driving) it almost
seems senseless to have a fast car here anymore. Sure, a V1 would've
helped, but you'd constantly be on total alert. Traffic around here has
just gotten too damn dense. Nonetheless, I was at the Hardware store this
morning, getting some things for my student's Science Olympiad team and
sizing up washers to just give my wastegate spring a little assist, at
least below the fool pump cut-off for now. At this point, the $0.36 seems
worth it, the cost of a good chip (such as Scott's) probably ought to go
into a V1.

Rant off,
