I don't have the URL, but I saw something on the Web debunking
this--it's an urban legend. But I agree that it's a hell of a good
story! When I first heard it a few years ago, I was shopping for tires
for my Peugeot 504, and I didn't see any tires (at least thru normal
car tire sources) rated for the speeds the car in the story would have
attained!
