I have the same Sears 17mm hex key.. I've found the best way to use it is to
put a long handled 17mm wrench on the key as close as possible to the plug..
generally they come out pretty easy if you do it that way. Although if its
never been changed.....

you DID put anti-sieze on the plugs when you put them back in right?
Oh, and my tranny fun begins next weekend. I just lost reverse gear so
limping around town isn't all that easy anymore!
