Strange Window Problem !!!

I'm sure every older Audi owner has had his/her experience w/ windows. A
lot of times corrosion and dirt build up in the wiring for the windows,
esp. since water and dirt can get inside the door frame. I'd check the
wiring at the door jamb for worn wires and move up to the switch and to the
motor. The power is going out either b/c there is a broken wire or, there
is something in the circuit draining too much power.
I had one case where it was a seized window motor. It wouldn't move and
when you pressed the button, the light would go out. I just took out the
motor, sanded off the rust, lubed it, and sealed it back up. It works very
smoothly now. I also had another door that was a combination of corroded
connections in the wiring, and another that was the switch. The switches
collect dirt...there was black stuff in between the switch contacts and
some of them had green copper oxides inside. This is on the driver's door
which can get water on the switch panel. You can test the switches w/ an
ohmeter. It should be less than 0.5 ohms when you close the contacts. Or
you can easily pry them open to see what it looks like in there.
Careful...there are 2 ball bearings inside which can get lost...just open
it on a tray, but nothing will spring out at you...Oh ya, and don't forget
to check relays/fuses. Good luck.
