5kt cyl head removal/ head bolt tool

Anyone got any BTDT's on removing the head while the engine is in the car? 
This is a KH engine. What special tool do I need for the head bolts? I have 
some sockets that are not 6, but 12 sided...will this work? Where is the 
best price if I need to buy it? Can I just unscrew the manifolds off the 
head and slip the head off? How bout up front, do I need to remove any 
timing gears, etc. before taking off the head? Appreciate your help.
