Hard Starting '88 5KSQ

My 1988 5KSQ (NA) recently became very difficult to start.  When it finally 
starts after many tries, it seems to run on 1 cylinder for a while.  When it 
gerts going after a few minutes of this, it runs fine.  The codes read 
"2123" - full throttle switch and "1111" - ignition control unit.  Before 
this hard starting condition started, it would idle high (@1100 rpms) and 
seemed to "ping" sometimes.

I'm thinking the ignition and/or engine control units down in the kick 
panels.  Or, the wiring to them.  Any BTDTs?  Any more checking I can do?
