Which Audi is the Best and Why?

Easy - '91 200-20V TQ Avant, with Sports Seats and G60's, Hands down.

Decent ones can be had for about $10,000 to $13,000. You get luxury
(e.g. wood & leather, heated seats, sunroof), all wheel drive; a motor
that is race bred and race proven; a 5 speed; and between the back and
the rack, the ability to carry more than you ever dreamed of.

Add:

ECU Upgrade - $495-$695 = 275HP, 290 ft lbs torque
Springs and Shocks - about $1500
Wheels and Tires - $1500 to $2,000
BIRA S3 Brakes - $1200 to $1500 (depending upon options).

For $15,000 to $18,000 you have a quattro that will go! stop! handle!
and is more versatile than any Audi I'm aware of.

Get Crazy:

RS2 manifold and Turbo - around $3K = 330 HP/350 ft lbs. Say "good-bye"
to most of what's on the road.

In sum, my '91 20v TQA has taken me through all kinds of nasty weather
with ease. It's a great everyday car. It's a joy on trips (long legs
and it doesn't draw much attention - an old family station wagon ya
know). It has put multiple smiles on my face at driver's ed track events
(and in the process has surprised quite a few folks). When vacation
time comes, I drop the back seats, and create a cavern; the roof rack
handles the toys (bikes? kyacks? shells?). What else could you ask for?
