Unusual oilway in main bearing shell

That's really odd, Phil. I've never seen a grooved lower main shell on any
make of engine I've worked on. It doesn't seem ideal for maximum bearing
load capacity. Can the upper shells be fitted to the lower bearing half by
mistake?
