'87 5KCSQ brakes not releasing properly

You might want to check your brake lines.  You don't see it too often on 
Audis but on older Porsches the rubber brake lines swell up on the inside and 
close off the flow of brake fluid.  The MC can generate enough pressure to 
force the fluid through the restriction(s) but there is not enough pressure 
to let the fluid back out - sort of like a rubber check valve.
