I'm talking about a Mitsubishi valve which, in its factory application,
leaks at 12-13 psi.  The most common fix for this is to trade the valve
out for another Mitsu valve that doesn't have the problem, along with a
new intercooler pipe becasue the mounting is different.

Which makes the original valve and appropriate mountin pipe available used
at a low cost, and if stock boost is below 12-13 psi, it'll work just
fine.  From what I have seen the valve doesn't "fail" becasue of the high
boost, but rather leaks at high boost levels- which makes it very
difficult to hold more than 12-13 psi.

Nope, the Mitsu factory design is a true CBV.  (Most engines, BTW, not
just Audis run rich when using those things.  Any system that meters the
air will have the same problem because they allow metered air to escape.)
