5000CSTQ wheel bearings

Sounds like it may be improper installation, Burl. These are a double
bearing with a split inner race and it takes a bit of thought to work out
the assembly sequence to avoid bearing damage. If the shop does it wrong,
the bearing will only last a few months, which sounds like what is happening
to you. The easiest way to assemble the hub and bearing is the wrong way to
assemble it.
If you do suspect the bearings, try the $$$ bearing from the dealer. Get the
German ones, not the Italian ones. The local Audi tech has been complaining
about short life from Canadian SKF bearings he put in his car.
