problems

Hi, all,

Just a couple of questions for you all (maybe you have encountered some of
these problems before):

I own a Type 89, 1988, Audi 1.8 sedan, KE-Jetronic, and I have the following
problems (among others...):

- the cooling fan stops working when I turn off the engine, although the
temperature is over 90 deg.

- the heater blower works only on the IIIrd and IVth intensities (I don't
have A/C fitted). The blower's 4-way resistor is OK (I checked) - btw, do
you have any idea whether I can fit an A/C unit on my car? How much $, how
difficult?

- I have a most annoying squeal (high-pitched clink or something - I can't
quite describe it) coming from the rear - right side of the car. It
manifests even at very low speeds, on all kinds of surface. I have tried
driving with the rear-right door open, with the bootlid open, with the rear
seats removed and it still manifests. It only goes away when it's raining
outside or when the car is loaded. I even driven with somebody in the rear
seat listening to the noise and the best estimate is that it is coming
either from the rear-right suspension or brake-drum and apparently is some
kind of friction-generated.

I have tried applying grease on quite every possible joint in that part of
the car and the noise hasn't gone away. The only time something happened was
when I dismantled the brake drum and applied (quite indiscriminately) some
grease inside - worked for about a week, but could have been coincidence. I
have replaced the rear friction pads - to no avail.

PLEASE help me on this one - it's a real party-breaker!!!

Thanks a lot (also thx to all of you who wrote me last time about the engine
code - I found it),
