Because the 5KT doesn't come with a CBV at all, and installing one of any
make is a wise upgrade. Becasue of the reasons I already pointed out, the
mitsu valve is a reasonable (and cheap) choice.
I got in the thread only to find out if the boost levels that I'm likely
to expect after a chip upgrade are below the levels where that valve is
known to leak.
I didn't mention it was a mistu valve until no less than 10 people told me
that it can't possibly leak that way, despite the well documented fact
that it does. So I said it's a mitsu valve, and yes it does leak that
way. (Though I've never heard of one failing outright at all.)
Bottom line question: will the Mitsu valve, which can be had used for
under $20 (more often free, including most of the mounting pipe) meet a
daily-driven 5Ks needs.
Answer appears to be yes.
Were I racing, I'd go for the piston valves mentioned by others, but I
need to save that $$ for my suspension rebuild.
