Well, after a fashion, yes. Since most of the devils are associated
with running quite old cars with a lot of miles, my approach to
minimising nasty ongoing "things that need to be fixed" is to 1. fix a
whole system rather than replacing one bad part (IE all bushings, not
just the one that fell apart) and 2. to try to get ahead and
"rejuvenate" systems that are aging. This makes the car as a whole that
much closer in function and reliability to a new car, and less of a
headache. When something does go wrong, the symptoms are not buried in
and masked by the symptoms of all the other things that are "sort of
waiting to be dealt with," and so it is easier to diagnose and fix.
Of course reciting the appropriate chants as prescribed in the "Book of
Bentley," while taking daily readings from the "Family Runes" helps
too...
(old fuel injectors make great I Ching sticks for this purpose)
