General Tire XP 2000 Z4 BTDT?

Robert,
I have an '88 5KCSTQ with the XP2000s. Got them with the car and they have
less than 8K miles on the set -- one tire was bad with a mysterious bulge
in the sidewall (not good) so I bought a replacement to round out the set.
The tires are pretty good for the price (can you say "the value pick?") but
not as good as far as ride, noise, and grip as the Michelin MXV4s I have on
my 300E. The absolute grip is lower and the compound gets a little hard
when it falls below freezing. Ice traction is only average, based on past
cars I have owned.
When these tires wear out, I shall be getting Michelins (MXV4 or XGT
series) or will get a spare set of tires/wheels with Bridgestone Blizzaks.
Good luck!

These are rediculously cheap compared to the other "Ultra High Performance
All Season" tires at Tire Rack. I'm wondering why, of if maybe
they're a good choice?
Treadwear rating isn't so good, but for half the price I'm not sure I
care...
Anybody have experience with them?
