Outward bulges are bad news. They usually indicate an open ply
splice and could blow anytime. Indents usually indicate heavy
splices which aren't dangerous but could be annoying for
balancing.  

Oh yeah, I think there are several different models of XP2000s,
the original post was about the Z4 version.
