Roger Galvin had an SUV story at the Area E meeting.  Seems a woman
was taking her kids to school and parked (as they all do) partly
on the pavement (sidewalk) and partly on the road - within the
hatched road markings that indicate a school entrance.

When she came out, a policeman was scribbling away on his pad.  She
muttered something about cruel luck giving her a parking ticket.

"No," says the policeman, "it's not a fixed penalty parking ticket.
It's for Driving Without Due Care and Attention, and you will have
to appear in court."

YES!  'Care and Attention' is usually six points (out of a maximum of
12 permitted in any three-year period) and can DOUBLE her insurance
premiums.
