Per,
I think it's a European phenomenon to see lots of badgeless
cars. That's why I was really impressed with the Anthracite
M5 owner who opted for the factory badge and spoiler delete.
If you put different wheels on the car, the only thing to tip
you off are the mirrors and the tailpipes.

The main reason we have so few engine choices is because the
cost of EPA/DOT certification for each powertrain combination
is so high and very few people here are interested in diesels
or low powered engines in an expensive European car. If you
brought over an A8 3.3TDi or a 730d, it would never sell.

I think Bill M. is the only American on the list who would buy an
A8 3.3TDi. :-)
