I've got a rear bearing to replace on my 88 Ur-q, checked the family album
and found two bearings listed on AQS/88/5/07/42-00, #443 498 625 (75.07mm)
and #443 498 625 E (82mm). The part #'s rang a bell, the same ones are used
at the front of the car, with a VIN break at 85G900001. Figured that there
was probably a rear bearing change at the same time so didn't get a new
bearing during the week because I knew that there was a new 82mm bearing in
my garage. Bought myself a 10ton bench mounting press though - I've had
enough of paying shops a fortune to install bearings and bushes. So there I
was, pressed out the old bearing, set things up to fit the new one - it
didn't go anywhere near the strut. Rear bearings are 75.07mm and I can't get
another until Monday.
Still, I've had a play with my new press - I should have bought one years
ago. Pressed out all the bearings from my 81 struts in 5 minutes, now I can
get them grit blasted.
