My '87 5KTQ ( approaching 200K miles) has been doing that as long as I have
owned it. Try putting your climate control system in "econ" mode to disable
the AC compressor. Smoothed my power flow out nicely. The compressor on my
car seems to put a lot of drag on the engine. It also seems to run much
better after I take it on a long trip of 1000 miles or more which works some
of the carbon deposits out of that old engine.
