5000CSTQ wheel bearings

I'd be careful about using a bearing component for a pressing tool. Bearing
steel is usually a 52100 steel and is very brittle. If you get the pressing
tool misaligned slightly or if there is a burr or other problem which can
concentrate the forces, this type of steel will shatter - and if it is under
a lot of pressure it will act more like a grenade. Most upscale shop presses
have a screen cage to somewhat protect the operator. Most low end presses
don't have any protection from flying parts. I don't want to sound preachy,
I just don't want to see someone lose an eye or worse. Most tools made for
pressing operations are soft so they will deform. It might be possible to
anneal the outer race. Any metallurgists out there?
