Coolant Temp

Hi!

I'm not sure if my observations are of some relevance since
the engine I have in my '93 80 (ABK) did not make it to the US
(I believe...) but I observed the following:

 - Channel 51 of my climate control shows temperatures over 90deg
(saw 108 on a hot summer day in city bumper-to-bumper traffic
   after a fast Autobahn ride).

 - The instrument cluster gauge always showed a little different
values esp. when the cooling fan kicks in the instrument gauge
dropped earlier than the reading from channel 51.

 - Since my instrument cluster gauge seized to work slowly over the
last two years and shows nothing now, the Ch51 display always
   worked for me.

 - Unplugging the cable to the sensor for the instrument gauge did
have no effect on the Ch51 display - conclusion: they use
   seperate sensors.

 - Engine behaviour/cold start is flawless. There is a third
sensor for the (Digifant) engine management only.

YMMV
So long!
Ero.
