(no useful info from me here) but I think part of the problem stems from
the way the 4kq cluster is illuminated in the first place - two
incandescent bulbs aimed "rearward" into the whitish plastic that
surrounds the cluster, which sortof transmits the light is such a way
that it reflects off the markings on the gauges. Not that this is a bad
system or anything, seems to work fine. But the gauges are not set up
in such a way as to facilitate "direct" illumination by individual
sources of light.
The heater panel lighting works the same way. As does the ashtray
collar, sort of.
Not sure I'm even talking about anything close to what you are trying to
do, but if I shed any light on the problem, that couldn't hurt (sorry!).
Oh, and why, other than too much spare time (I should talk), are you
trying to do this?
