grainy sludge in K-26 oil port

I just purchased a used (water cooled)K-26 (w/ 40k on
it) from a fellow lister to replace my failing (oil
cooled) K-26 on my UrQ.  Upon closer inspection, I
found an grainy sludge in the oil port of the turbo. 
This does not sound good to me.  Will this tuff tear
up my bearings if I install it as is, or is there a
way of cleaning out the oil chamber before I use it? 
I am not confinant enough to tear into this thing
myself.  Is this a simple matter or am I going to have
to pay big bucks to have this thing re-built.  Thanks.
