I'm aiming at the weekend to change the timing belt on my I5. Someone
wanted to know how I got on getting hold of special tools 2084 and 2079.
Well they are available from the dealer. I got 2084 (damper holder) for
33.49 GBP + VAT.
I passed on 2079 as it was more than 60 GBP if i recall. I'm following the
suggestion of (i think) Mr Thackrah in borrowing a hulking great torque
wrench instead. Wish me luck.

Now I have one question for the re-assembly, - what is the recommended
thread locking goo, - as say loctite comes in various different strenghs
which should I go for?

    Cheers.

PS As far as RV mirrors are concerned, I got mine off with judicious use
of a (DIY paint stripping) heat gun. I got the
recommended goo from the dealers - 3GBP+ for a tiny amount, followed the
instructions to the letter and it fell off after a minute or two - (it was
however a sub-zero temp outside at the time).
