Not nearly. Every single 20vt model Audi has ever made, to my
knowledge, comes with the tool necessary for spark plug removal
because the plugs are smack in the middle of the head and buried
quite some distance down.
Grab the tire iron out of the trunk. Look at the end of the straight
part of the handle; should be a spark-plug sized socket complete with
rubber bushing to grab the stalk of the plug.
This shop obviously hasn't seen many 20 valve turbo cars(200q20v's or
S4/S6's) or they would know this immediately...much less a Sport
Quattro. Such a car is far to rare to give to such goofballs. Take
your business elsewhere.
Unless of course I'm the idiot and there is something unique about
the 20v head in the sport q, or it doesn't come with a tire iron :-)
My acid test for whether a mechanic is 20vt saavy involves popping
the hood and commenting about low boost problems.
Failing mechanics will point to the atmospheric test port and say,
"hey, there's your problem right there!" Bzzzt! Thanks for playing
:-)
