Actually, after five or six beers, its not all that hard to read.
After ten or more, you find BOTH your reading comprehension and speed
increasing.
By 15 or so, you can almost speak the language (its not hard, Finns are a
folk of notoriously few words, so just a shrug can get you by for a week,
and "Ja" & "No" is getting positively verbose!) Those in a rush for a
translation can substitute Aquavit for the beer. I'm sure this technique
explains how the Swedes and Norwegians do so well in understanding the Finns

That's Finnish for you - not so much a language, more a throat complaint.
They say that if a Finn sucks enough cough sweets, he starts speaking
Swedish.
