>I'm also happy to send you fragments of wx motor piston rings from
excessive heat, stock turbos, stock computers (along with the bottom feed
WGFV you have 'never' seen fail).
I have had piston damage to my WR due to heat, I believe, but not
necessarily turbo heat. I experienced some unusual running tendencies and a
compression test showed some weaknesses on #5.
I pulled the head and was surprised to see the piston wall breaking up and
little bits floating between the rings! If my rings had failed, the result
could have been catastrophic. #1-#4 looked like new. (38K miles)
My car seems to run cooler than most. (water almost never tops 100 C) I was
worried that my oil cooler thermostat was bad because it took high ambient
temps plus spirited driving to get it to open. I swapped thermostats during
the rebuild and it is still the same. Maybe it's a WR/WX thing.

81 Urq with original turbo but looking for a WJ for the performance.
