At this point in time, by a legal standpoint, email is still an
intellectual property of the creator, thus copyrighted. Though this can be
argued against vehemently considering how flimsy the copyright laws are
about new media. Anything fixed in a tangible medium is protected under
copyright, but the obvious argument is whether or not email is tangible,
unless printed out. I've heard both sides, even my law professor from last
year said it was really not clear either way. He cited cases that had gone
to both sides even though the circumstances were quite similar. According
to this prof even our posts to the q-list are still our intellectual
property, in the theory that the implied license is only given to the
quattro list remailer to distribute to subscribed members only, though the
archives are not covered under copyright, so it's all a jumble. Sorry for
the ramblings. Maybe some will find it interesting.
Mandatory Audi content, I was followed today by an Allroad. Those
things have such a cool stance when looking at them in the rear view mirror,
wicked looking, me likes!
Cheers,
