I think that in terms of "rarity", our type 44's may be in the URQ range,
at least here in the US. By that I mean a 5KS with a stick shift. Mine
is a 1984, and I've NEVER seen another one (the 1984 has the window
switches mounted on the center console amoung other differences from
subsequent models), Automatics by the truckload, but stick 5KS's are rare
Stateside. It has all the type 44 "quirks", but with all the parts I've
pulled from Automatics on their ways to the junkyard, the car has been
practically free to keep running. I spent $200 in the last 12 months to
keep her in shape, Front Wheel Bearing, Hub, Couple of Bushings, Oil
Changes. Do all the work myself, and took care of all the major stuff as
it would go over the last 11 years I've owned it.
Supposedly (according to previous threads) this model isn't even fully
galvanized, and yet there is no rust through anywhere on it, and the last
time I washed it I kinda remember some breaking news about the Berlin
Wall falling.
