McPherson dome in Typ 43 Audi 100 corroded..

But in that case: a cut-out part from a Cal junk-car 
cannot be used as a welded-over capping; it will have to 
be let in...
My question here: is it keen to replace and weld-in only 
the upper part of the dome, or must the whole panel, of 
which the actual dome is part of (to my information this 
panel is a section of the inner wing (this consisting of 
multiple parts, spot(?)welded together by Audi) be taken 
out and re'new'ed..
Wouldn't be pleasant if under the stresses of load the 
welds would loosen and the suspension on that side 
collapse when driving.. :-
