have you driven with vag-com hooked up and got someone to observe the
readout when you notice the hesitancy in idle? this should let you see if
the idle exceeds the motronic limits, and therefore what other input is out
of spec.
another idea might be to have a look at your a/c compressor switch, if that
is on in your car.

To me, the adaptation value for the O2 sensor seems towards the
bottom of the acceptable range, when during multiple sessions, every
other value is smack dab on the money, with one exception...friday
afternoon, the value for 7 was low.
Mostly what I suspect is that the sensor is slow, but there's no real
measurement from the ECU that reflects that :-) It seems to match,
however, the rough idle, which will bounce back and forth slightly,
but occasionally drops, labors, and recovers. I won't really be able
to tell if thats' the case unless I were to hook up an oscilloscope,
a recording DMM, or replace the sensor(I've been seriously
considering the last two.)
In any case, I've gone about as far as I can without testing
resistances and voltages across the board and simply eliminating
things one by one; I was hoping that VAG-COM would save some time.
Oh well.
