Went to the Toronto Auto Show this weekend...

...not too much to be excited about...Audi display was pretty standard(lot's
of stuff I couldn't afford!) ;)

Kinda sucks that Audi had EVERYTHING locked up...I guess they didn't want
people walking away with Audi souvenirs(it's funny that people will steal
anything...Dodge Viper wheel center caps included...)

The one car that got me pretty excited(and I may offend a few people here on
the list), was the New Mini. I got a chance to sit in it an play around...
...everything felt REALLY nice. Seats were supportive, shifter was smooth
and direct, materials were very nice, overall fit and finish was sweet(we'll
have to see what the final production versions are like...). Hell, it's a
$25k mini BMW! 160hp Tritec supercharged 1.6L(Cooper S), barely enough room
for 4, the size of a go-cart, what else do you need?!(answer:AWD) ;)

The Subaru boys were there(of course!), but the best part was when we spoke
with one of the Rally drivers. My buddy who went with me is a huge Subi
guy(and I honestly can't say that they aren't good value for money...), but
we walked up to one of the drivers and started to 'chit-chat'. My buddy
turns to the Subaru Rally Driver(SRD) and asks him to covert me to a "Subaru
Guy", the SRD turns to me and asks: "so, what kind of 'guy' are you?". Me:
"Audi". SRD: "Really?!, you know they only imported 99 urQuattros into
Canada, and I own 2 of them..." Me: "cool!". My buddy: get's burned in the
Audi conversation. :) Man, that was funny. Of course towards the end, he HAD
to plug Subaru, since they are his sponcer...(I understand)

Finally, I couldn't believe how many people were there considering the
market is in a so-called 'slump'...it sure didn't look like it! I blame the
media for 'recessions', as soon as one news guy says the 'r' word, 20,000
auto workers get fired... ...I suppose it is smarter to 'plan' your
recessions, instead of another market crash...(people flying of buildings is
really dangerous and makes a mess on the streets below) :)

p.s. I got more rants if people want to hear them... ...like why do
companies HAVE to triple their profits EVERY year? ...are they not happy
with the billions they already pocket?!?? (arrrgg) okay, okay, I'll stop.
