What a coincidence..I've been seriously thinking of turning the '84 5KS
into a Ragtop. I played with the image a little on photoshop and come up
with what it might look like. (Although I think the center pillar will
probably have to stay and attach a roll bar.) Thanks to the web page you
posted, I have already contacted my Chinese acquaintances to check with
this company and see if they sell the top mechanism and canvas.
My current intention is to make up a canvas top (like the old MG's) to
cover the interior, but the car would be a fair weather proposition only.
This has come up on the list in the past, and I think someone said they
actually saw a type 44 convertible out in Arizona somewhere. If anyone
actually knows of a type 44 convertible, I'd be very interested in
knowing what they used for a top mechanism, I still have a Karman Ghia
Convertible rear glass (with defogger) and a friend in the upholstery
business that might be able to adapt it as a rear window.
