It's excessively rare to see an F1 or CART car have any air time nor
tumble time like that. Has to do with the aerodynamics. A flying brick
will tend to remain a flying brick unless acted upon by an outside
force....

And, in other than head on crashes, most of the open wheel cars and
sports cars disintegrate, by design. This relieves alot of impact energy.
Of course, the relative delicacy of the cars modifies how often the
drivers of these series are willing to run REALLY close to one another,
as it's easier to knock these cars out of alignment which may effect
their race position or whether or not they finish. Don't know whether or
not NASCAR is willing to give this up yet.....
