California, per what is on the signs on the roads (we were just up near the
oregon border and saw them ourselves with the rented Ford Expedition; what a
beast!), requires chains for two wheel drive vehicles. Four wheel drive
WITH mud and snow tires (believe the tire must have "m & s" printed on the
tire somewhere) does not require chains.
