Stooooopid headlight question

My new A6Q2.8 has an interesting oddity.

I know with the Xenon HID headlights, the low beams stay
on, even with high beams.

My question is, are there supposed to be two high beams?
The fuse box certainly indicates so. But I have only one
(on the driver's side) and the autocheck does not tell me
there is a bulb out, which it should.

So, one high beam, or a broken autocheck system?
