Thanks all! LL's post is ESPECIALLY relevant and helpful; my mechanic is
also a long-time Porsche mechanic, so he had a really good alignment done
at a local shop that specializes in Porsche performance tuning after he
put the springs on. And the car is significantly lower. My only unknown
right now is (please don't flame me) *which* springs got put on. I had it
in an email from my shop, and I managed to delete it and I'm waiting for
a FAX with the details.

If these questions make me sound like a doofus, my apologies. I've been
driving an '87 911 Carrera at SIR for about five years, and I'm
really used to its snap. The snap-off-throttle trick I used in that car
to reduce understeer gets me nowhere in my Q car (if I go off throttle in
the Audi, all that happens is the car slows down!). The 911 would
left-foot brake sweetly, too (worked best at PIR).

I'm also not a physicist. &:-)

But I'll be helping instruct at an Alfa driving school in March out at
Bremerton and we're having the students do an autox in the afternoon.
Maybe I can run the Q-car in the autox! Hope you don't mind if I come back
with additional questions afterwards.... (again, I'm used to driving the
911 and I'm very "pattern trained" so I could easily do something .....
educational....)

Thanks so much to Larry; you always have the most detailed and helpful
posts! ! ! ! ! And yes, the wagging was on exit, not on entry. It's a
situation where the front of the car is not loaded; I'm on the throttle,
it's an off-camber turn ....Do any of you know the onramp to 520 going
East, from the Marymoor park area? If you take the onramp from the
southbound arterial, there's no braking, because it's a steep uphill and
way around to the right. It could be there's also gravel on the left
side..

Anyway:

SHAMELESS PITCH: the Alfa club event is open to EVERYONE, not just Alfa
owners, so I'll put in a pitch. It's on March 3rd at Bremerton Raceway.
YOU CAN STILL REGISTER! ! ! ! ! Women and teens (15+ with WA state
driving permit) are *half price*. The emphasis is for novices, to give
them more skills and confidence in STREET driving. (We do host track
events, so if you decide you'd like to come join us later, that's fine
too! This class would be good preparation.)

We are doing a ground school, skid pad, slalom, 100% threshhold braking,
100% threshhold braking with roll-on thru chicane; lunch (included in
price); refresher talk, then autox and handling oval (kind of a 1/4
miler).

We are especially recruiting women and teens. If any of you are in the
Seattle area and are interested in participating, the price is cheap! $70
if you register by today ($35 for half price) and if you register after
today the price goes only to $80 (and $40).

Here's our website: http://welcome.to/nwarc

Thanks for your patience!
