Need Help with Blown Turbo Freeze Plug

I wish I could say I was finally dropping back into the
community, but my stay must be brief and problem-oriented.
My '86 5000cstq has popped a freeze plug on the water-cooled
K26 turbo. I can't recall (from when I had it off the car)
whether there are plugs other than this one, but it's visible
on the left side of the turbo (as viewed from under the hood).
I haven't yet had time to personally investigate whether
taking the intake stuff off and getting it out of the way
will give me enough room to swing a hammer and pound in
a replacement freeze plug, or not. I was hoping another
q-head will have had this problem and a good solution.
Obvious solution is pull the turbo, replace freeze plug,
replace turbo, and having installed a turbo before, it's
not outside my skill range, but is currently outside my
range of willpower.
Does anyone make one of those rubber screw-down -type
temporary freeze plugs in the appropriate size (looks
like about 3/4s of an inch)? Has anyone tried it?
I'd also be interested in hearing from anyone who's
had this problem, whether they've a solution, or not.
Thanks in advance for all replies,
