Wow, I'll try and temper my reply. A few facts. The Champion Audi S4
team was in the very first season running a brand new car. They fought
with ECU/turbo setups most of the season trying to identify engine
misfire issues. In addition to the legendary Derek Bell the team also
had the 1999 Speedvision World Challenge Touring division champion
driver in Michael Galati. As much as I like Stuckie and Hurley, to imply
they are that much better than Derek Bell is really showing ignorance of
motorsports history. Some of the starts that the two S4 Competitions
made were amazing. By the end of the season the team was far from
"mid-pack" and in fact Galati won the second to last race of the season
and was the second place finisher in driver's points. According to Derek
Bell when I interviewed him at Sears Point the S4 Competition was ~100HP
down on power compared to some of the competion (he specifically said
the Corvettes).

Personally I think the Champion Audi team did a great job their first
year out and wish them all the best this season with their 2000 R8 in
the ALMS series.
