Contemplating new exhaust for the 5ktq

$500 sounds like a lot for meineke/midas workmanship. I think he's charging 
you b/c you have four rings on your car...but maybe he was thinking of some 
fancy parts. You can build your system for very little, have someone 
install it for you, and have a very nice setup. I built mine w/ the Walker 
turbo muffler Scott was talking about. I got a 2.5" type and replaced the 
center muffler w/ a pipe. The muffler cost $45 and the labor was $70. I 
like the sound and I gained some power/mileage. Problem is the one I got 
had offset outlets, so the mechanic actually bent a tailpipe for me. I'd 
like to get a nice tip, so I'll prolly get one of those stainless mufflers 
w/ tips. The nice thing is the mechanic used clamps on everything, so I can 
just swap the muffler as needed. Also check this link:
