Snow packed into the vent intake at back of hood/bottom of
windshield?  (I learned this at the NEQ Winter Driving School.) 
That's where the ventilation system draws in outside air, right? 
So if it's full of wet snow, you're saturating the incoming air
which then condenses on the cold glass inside.
