93 90CS won't idle

In my past experiences, when you have to hold open the air path to allow
more air for a correct mixture to start or idle the car, but when driving
it runs fine, this is usually a sign of a dirty clogged air filter element
which is restricting the amount of air needed at startup and idle. To test
this, take out the air filter element and then try to start the car without
depressing the accelerator. Try to do this in a clean environment, and do
not let the car idle very long, so as not to draw in particles that will
clog the mixing venturis. Hope this helps. Tex. 2/26/01 1412hrs. EST.
