The CVT system's biggest fault was that the belts were exposed to the elements,
a problem Volvo never addressed after they aquired ownership of DAF in the 70s.
Ford Fiesta and Subaru Justy were two cars avilable with CVT around 1990, they
were both governed in reverse though....
