steering rack 4ksq

I just took my car, 1984 4ksq, into the dealership for a little inspection,
and they said that my steering rack is loose, I take it worn and not
working properly.  Anyway, they said it would cost about a $1000 to get the
rack and install it.  They quoted the rack to be around $370 or so.

I am wondering if anyone has replaced one of these racks themselves, and if
so how difficult was it.  I have access to a lift and tools. I am just
lacking the experience thing.  If anyone knows how to get a rack for a bit
cheaper that would be cool.  I wish I still worked in the parts department
so I could get a little discount.
