Check vacuum lines, when I had the same problem with my CGT it turned out to
be an $8 vacuum hose. Found this out after taking the car to The Imported
Car Center, williston, vermont. After replacing the cold start valve and
other assorted shots in the dark, they told me the car was done. $350 later,
when I picked up the car the same problem occured when starting it to leave
the service center :-( Took it to another shop (larrys imported car repair
in williston vermont, highly recommended for vermont listers), he replaced
said vacuum line and the problem was vanquished. BTW, this is why I learned
how to work on my own VWs and Audis.
hth,
tom
