The shop I frequent (Metric Auto Service, Ottawa ON) did a Golf
syncro/quattro one-off last year, for a local dot.com millionaire. Had a
Golf that he already had tricked out and loved, and paid them _shop rate_ to
modify it to AWD.

Luckily, these guys fabricate and (successfully) race their own cars @
Mosport.

A few bucks involved...*cough*.
