The dealer's yacht payment must be overdue . . .
The plastic rain guard at the base of the windshield is a $5 part at any
pick and pull. The most difficult thing is finding one that isn't busted
up. Take the fastener clips off carefully - these plastic sheets get
brittle after 15 years. you also have to remove one WS wiper arm, because
the pivot goes through a hole in the sheet.
The later versions have a few more rubber bumpers underneath, but they all
fit.
Rule #1 for owning a type 44: "Retail is for other people!!"
I'm saddened to hear that people have been having trouble with the
field-rebuilt top pressure hoses. $80 is way too much to pay for this - the
job is worth $20 to $30, tops, and if it is done correctly (big IF,
evidently), is trouble-free. Quality of the work seems to vary by who does
it - but if the OEM hose was so great, you wouldn't be out looking for
someone to rebuild it, would you? Unfortunately, none of this stuff lasts
forever . . . although the one I had done almost two years ago works fine
so far (slosh on Pentosin).
Best Regards,
