First off thanks to the list for a great format for learning about Audi's.
You guys are responsible for my functioning heated seats, and it was -4
degrees here in Michigan last night.

The Car: 1987.5 CGT, 94k miles, bought two months ago.

Few days ago my oil buzzer light and SIREN goes off @ 2000k rpms or so.
Stops when I let off gas. Figured I better check oil. It was slightly low,
not bad. Today I got under the COUPE and pulled off the PENNZOIL filter from
the previous owner and drained the oil. Replaced it with a German MANN
filter, no problem. I looked at the Pennzoil filter and the top was
partially sucked in, and the center hole was jammed w/ the filtering
material, part of a rubber seal, and I could see a metal piece that was in
the wrong spot, compared to my MANN filter! It almost looked like a joke, it
was so plugged up. Finish up oil change, start car up, warmed up, drove, no
more oil light. I'm sure this was why my buzzer was flashing.

Has anyone on the list had this happen to them? I've always 'heard' of this
happening, by using a cheap American filter like FRAM or something on
VW/Audi's , but have never known anyone that it has happened to, etc. I've
always used German replacement parts myself. I have the receipt from 2900
miles ago showing it was changed there, and I have the filter. Any
recommendations? Think I might have damaged my motor, even though it doesnt
show signs of it? I was thinking about stopping down to the Pennzoil oil
change facility that did the work, w/ the filter/papers and seeing what they
will do for me. I obviously dont need a Pennzoil oil change again!

ANY advice/comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Brad
